Withdraw!
When we say we want 'more of God' as if we are waiting on him, it is like us having a bank account with an unlimited balance, but rarely or never using our bank card to withdraw from it. We still have the account (salvation) and the money (the Holy Spirit) but we never use it.
We live in a world full of death, depression, sickness, sin and all the rubbish that came into God's perfect and beautiful creation at The Fall. Christians have the one true solution, and yet so often we are either hiding it, ignoring it, or just simply not using what God has placed in us for his glory. That's just sad!
The great commision says we are to preach the Gospel, cleanse the leper, heal this sick, make disciples, raise the dead (not necessarily in that order), but honestly in my opinion, a high percentage of us settle for Church attendance, maybe a mid week bible study, the odd prayer meeting and a church picnic. Of the rest, some folk may be willing to go a bit further, but how many of us are living like Jesus?
I know I am not!
Jesus was our exact blueprint for life. Although he most definitely was God, he lived life here on earth as fully human, filled with the Holy Spirit. Just like me! I am fully human and filled with the Holy Spirit. So I can do what he did. That's not arrogance (I know of my own self I can do nothing) and it's not blasphemy (Jesus told us he was in the Father and likewise, we are in him, -John 14:20 - and that we would do greater works than he did -John 14:12)
The difference between Jesus and me is how much of the Spirit I allow to flow through me and how well I know my Father.
Jesus didn't tell us to 'do our best' he told us basically 'go out and be like me'. Paul told us to imitate him as he imitated Christ! (1 Cor 11:1).
And ok, that's not gonna happen right away, but start where you are. Start seeing yourself like Jesus; filled with the Holy Ghost and power. See yourself being his voice, his hands, his feet to the people you meet.
God is always a God of the moment, the here and now, and he longs to flow into you and change you and flow out of you to change the world around you. So today, I challenge you, dust off your heavenly bank card and start placing a demand on the world-creating, miracle working power that resides on the inside of you. Heal the sick, bless those who persecute you and love like Jesus did everywhere you go!
Great reminder of who we are in Him. Stepping out one step at a time in His power! Thanks Abi!
