Well I apologise for the little gap since the last post.  I quite thought I had published, but clearly a blonde moment!   Anyway, back on track today!  My husband and I have been talking a lot about health supplements this week.  Health supplements can be good.  In a modern diet, it's hard to get everything we need nutritionally, but this got me thinking about a spiritual principal.  Supplements are good, but they cannot fix bad habits.  So for example, if you eat rubbish food all day and sit on the couch and watch TV then it doesn't matter how many supplements you take, you're not going to be a healthy person.  The same is true with spiritual supplements.    In the bible we see the Old Testament shows us supplements, but these never had the same power as the real thing.  For example the sacrifices of bulls and goats could never measure up to the blood of Jesus Christ. Let them eat cake

At work, when I send out the weekly emails, I like to find out what 'national day' falls on that day, and make a little bit about it.  I did the same this morning. Today is National Cake Day.  Who doesn't love a bit of cake now and then, but as I was thinking about cake (as one does after working out at the gym) and I realised that most often, cake is something special - birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, Christmas... In our house growing up, 'cake' was a treat on a Saturday evenings.  Cake is not a staple food (well unless you ask certain members of family); it is a treat.  The Bible is the opposite of cake.   The Bible isn't just for special occasions or a once a week treat, it's a staple food we need to consume daily.   We need to eat and digest it, and as we do, it feeds us so that we grow and mature.  Children who only ate cake, would be unhealthy and their growth and development would be hampered and even damaged.  In our Christian wal...

What shall I do?

Most of us 'grace people' will willingly talk about God's grace all day long, but it never ceases to amaze me how quickly we go back to a law (works) based mentality.   How often do we revert back to trying to relate to God through the law once we have been saved by grace?  It's an interesting, but not new, question (I'll come to that in a minute).  Take healing for example, I can't tell you how many times I have heard people say (and have previously said myself to be fair)... "I've read healing scriptures; I've prayed: I've fasted - What more do I need to do to be healed!".    Immediately relating to God on the basis of law/works - which of my works will get me healed?
