It's a scam!

Last week we were talking about what happened in the Garden of Eden with the serpent, and I want to continue a little bit with that thought.

We all probably know the story in the Garden, but have you ever stopped to think about why the devil came as a snake?

Think about it?  If you wanted to force a person to do something wouldn't a lion or an mammoth have been a far better option.

As a mammoth, he could have knocked her over and stood with one foot on Eve's chest and demanded that she ate the fruit!  But instead, he came as a serpent and was described as subtle!

Why is that?  I believe that Satan is powerless; he has no power, no authority and no strength. His only weapon is deception.

In John 8:44 Jesus tells us this. Satan is the father of lies and deception!

The bible says "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith... " (1 Peter 5:8-9).

Satan is not a lion that can really devour you, he goes about AS a lion - but he is all mouth and no teeth! It's a scam - getting you to believe something that's not true

"Seeking whom"; Satan is looking for people that he can con and deceive.  Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10), but if it were that simple, Christians would simply be dead as soon as we got saved.  No,  instead Satan cannot simply kill you with brute force, he comes to you in opposition to what God says with lies and deceit in an attempt to bring doubt into your heart.

The first part of v9 tells us how to deal with that. In the Amplified bible it reads:
But resist him, be firm in your faith [against his attack—rooted, established, immovable].

We beat the devils lies by being rooted, established and immovable.  That is talking about our life in the Word of God.  Jesus demonstrated this for us in the wilderness.  When Satan tempted him, his reply was IT IS WRITTEN.

When we are faced with lies and deception, we need to know what the word says so that a) we can recognize it for what it is, and b) we can stand against it and see the enemy flee from us!

Eve could have picked up that serpent by the tail and marched him unceremoniously to the Lord!  But instead, because she didn't know God's word, she let a snake talk her out of everything God had in store for her!

Today, don't let Satan trick you out of your inheritance, identity or blessings as a believer.  Instead, establish yourself and root yourself in God's word so that when the enemy spouts off, you can easily say "What a load of rubbish for IT IS WRITTEN...." and walk away from his deception and continue to walk in blessings of the Lord.
