Come and see

I was listening to one of my favourite carols Noel ft Lauren Daigle - https://youtu.be/aBZ6Lqx1OHk if you want a listen. I was struck by one of the lines "Come and see what God has done" as the angels are speaking to the Shepherds and it hit me that they didn't appear a week before and say 'Go and see what God is going to do'. 

They spoke about what GOD HAD DONE.  Jesus was already born and the Shepherds went off to see him. 

Often we can look to the future and wonder what God might do, where he is taking us, or how he can take change our current situation, but sometimes, we need to look at what God HAS done and fix our hope on him.  When we look and see all that God has done for us, starting with coming to earth as a baby, growing up to die on the cross and then brining it into our own lives, we can easily say "See what the Lord has done"! 

There's most definitely a time for looking forward, but there's also times to remember what has already been done and remind ourselves just how much God has accomplished for, in and through us! 

It is easy to spend our time moaning about this or that; focussing on things that aren't going well, struggles we have or challenges that arise, but we need to see what the Lord has ALREADY done!   

Whenever John and I have a 'lack' somewhere, I think back to all the times God has already come through for us, and I am encouraged.   God is unchanging - the same yesterday, today and forever! (Hebrews 13:8) and when I see what he has already done, I have hope and faith rises.

Whatever circumstance you are in today, I encourage you to write down and tell others what God has done!  It will encourage you, lift your faith and bring glory to Jesus.

Teabags and Popcorn!

So, I was eating popcorn yesterday and drinking a fruit tea and I started wondering what makes a popcorn pop! (As you do). With a little help from Google, I found out that inside the kernel, the hard shell, there is a little bit of moisture and when it heats up inside, it turns to steam and as you keep heating it up, the pressure from the steam builds and builds until it cracks open the hard exterior and makes a yummy snack. Looking back

This week I was listening to a message and I was reading the verse in Luke 17:32 which simply says " Remember Lot's wife ."   This is a really interesting statement. When Jesus tells us to consider something or remember something we should pay attention. So what do we know about Lot's wife?  Not a lot really.  But what we do know is that an angel of the Lord took her by the hand to lead her out of the city before God destroyed it.  She was told to run for her life and not look back.  According to Genesis 19, she ran but she turned and look back and as a result, turned to a pillar of salt.  This short verse really spoke to me for a number of reasons.    The Apostle Paul tells us " I don’t depend on my own strength to accomplish this; however I do have one compelling focus: I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead. See for yourself!

The New Year is often a point in time where we consider new beginnings. We make new year's resolutions and wipe the slate clean and start over, and while goal-setting and change isn't bad, in spiritual terms, will-power alone isn't enough to effect change.   Real and lasting change begins on the inside of us. It begins with seeing on the inside with the eyes of faith before we ever see something with our natural eyes on the outside.  What do I mean by that?  Well, think about Joseph.   Joseph had a dream that he would one day see his family bowing before him.  He had to walk through rejection from his family, slavery, false accusations and prison before he saw that with his physical eyes!  He had a dream and I believe he held on to that dream every single day.
