To be continued...

This is my first blog from the UK.  I am very excited about this next step in our journey.

I've lived in 3 countries, travelled to many others, and been in Christian ministry for many years. One thing (though not the only thing by any means) that all people seem to have in common is the fact that nobody really likes change!

It seems to me that for some reason we naturally gravitate towards routine and the familiar, and yet, change is all to constant in our lives!

There's a lot that I've learned in the last 10 years with all the changes that we've experienced, and I am working towards find a way to embrace, and even love, change!

I think God's view on 'change' is somewhat different to ours.  As far as God is concerned He never changes. He remains the constant, regardless of what goes on outside of Him.
In this way, change never phases God.  We are made in His image and so I think that we are made to behave that way also; to be so secure in our identity in Christ that external change doesn't stress you!

I think perhaps that it's not really in the change that we face our greatest challenges, but perhaps it is the ending of something.  We feel a loss or fear about letting go of the familiar and taking a leap of faith into something new.

God is not done with you yet!

Whatever the changes we face, we can handle it!  Whatever is going on in your life, however the change looks, the 'constant' in your life is Jesus who NEVER changes.

Some of the keys to seeing this in our own circumstances?  First, keep you mind on Him, find rest in your identity in Christ. That's the first step.  He will keep us in perfect peace.  (Isaiah 26: 3-4 You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord GOD is the eternal Rock.)

The second step, is to know that we can let go of the past and look forward to face a future with Jesus.  (Philippians 3:13 "No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead"). Jesus never serves the best first.   Think about the Wedding at Cana:  John 2:10
A host always serves the best wine first,” he said. “Then, when everyone has had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now!

God has good plans for us!

And lastly (for today anyway), we must remember that God always finishes what he starts.  Philippians 1:6 (NLT) . "And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns."

Every day we write the story of our lives.   Rest assured that your story daily ends with TO BE CONTINUED.... until the day Jesus returns for us.

Have a great week!
